Many users of computers or PC (Personal Computers) do not think about doing routine maintenance for both software and hardware used on the computer.

Maybe because some users do not know and are not familiar with this "maintenance" problem , even though it is very important.

Here are some activities that you should do regularly.

Cleaning Hardware

For desktop computer owners, CPU casing as a place where various hardware is installed must always be maintained. Depending on the placement of the casing, after a while it is usually inside will be full of dust because the running fan will also carry dust into the casing.

Every 3 to 6 months the conditions in the casing should always be checked, if it is full of dust you should immediately clean your friend. If you are able to remove all the components and return them one by one, it will be better. If not, simply bring it to the open and clean it with a brush.

If a compressor is available, it will be easier to clean the components inside. This cleaning is very important especially if the processor fan or other fan is full of dust, so the air flow is no longer good.

Software to check the temperature of computer components is also needed, so that at any time my friend can monitor the temperature of various existing components. Can use the default motherboard software (usually found on cd / dvd driver) or other free software such as Speedfan , Hardware Monitor and others.

System Maintenance (Software)

For computer system maintenance (software) , there are various routines that you should do to keep your computer working with better performance. include the following:

Update Antivirus

If your computer uses antivirus, routinely update. Because antivirus without an update will not work effectively

Windows Update

For Original Windows users should always regularly update both manually and automatically.

Scan Your Computer with Antivirus

Even though you have an antivirus installed, you should scan it regularly to make sure your computer is free of malware / viruses and other harmful things.

Clean files that are not used

The longer, usually the number of files on the computer more and more and some may not be used anymore. Allow to check and delete unused files. Can also use software such as CCleaner, Tune Up Utilities, Advanced System Care and others (first make sure to check what settings will be deleted before using the software)

Routine backups of important data

When the computer is full of important data such as tasks, reports , thesis or other data, don't forget to backup. It's easiest to compress all important data with programs such as 7Zip, WInzip, Winrar and the like.

Furthermore, the backup data can be saved on separate media, either external HDD, CD ROM, DVD ROM or stored online at "Cloud Service" such as DropBox, Box.net and others as long as it is certain to be safe first (can be encrypted, give the password to the zip file it)

Check the programs that are running with System / Windows

To do this write "msconfig" in the command run and look for the tab "startup" and remove the check marks that you think are not really needed.

Defragment Hard Drive

When it's been too long, the hard drive needs to be defragmented routinely (but not too often). First check whether the hard drive needs to be defragmented or not. You can use the default Windows program (from the Accessories menu> System Tools> Disk Defragmenter) or use free third-party software such as Auslogics Disk Defrag.

The various things above may be routine activities that you can do and all of you may also be able to do other routines according to their individual needs.
