Several times I was asked about how to determine the price for one article. This has to do with paid posts or paid articles on blogs or websites. It is indeed not easy, especially since there is no official regulation that regulates it.

But come to think of it, it really must devote attention to this issue. As a blogger, at first I was reluctant to find out how much one writing standard actually is. Because usually I negotiate directly with the buyer based on my own judgment.

Once, a person contacted me via email. He wants to order a paid post. But first ask how many standards I use at POPREVAENG. On the Ad page I did not specify a price, which meant that it opened a negotiating path.

But at that time, I answered $36,44 for one article. What happened later, he replied with disrespectful words and then cursed that my blog was not of another blogger's caliber. And they accept cheaper prices, he said.

I can only smile reading it. Sad at the same time. Because the cheapness of the buyer determines the price. At that time they only offered $3,64 to $7,29 in writing. Naturally, because the standards of online media in Indonesia pay journalists also not far from that price.

I also do not want to be hypocritical, at the beginning of this blog offered a paid post, I once received $3,64 in writing. And even then paid in the form of pulses and sent a few days after the writing aired. It didn't matter at the time. And I never blame them. Even with the swear later. It's everyone's right to do it.

But is it true, the writing on the blog does not have standards ?.

If referring to the standard that must be set by the government, the feeling is impossible. But it must be known together, the government through the Director General of Tax actually has a rule known as the general cost standard (SBU).

One of which is stipulated in the SBU provisions for online content. The reference is not a specific blog, but a website in general, both online media and government-owned websites. For a single page word, the standard price is $7,29.

If we use A4 paper with a 12 pt font with 1.5 spaces, then one page contains at least 300 words. Which means, when referring to the price of the SBU per $7,29 for each page, the government appreciates one word written as much as $0,024.

Say it's natural, although for me it's not enough to appreciate. Because one article sometimes has to force us to do research. But the price determined by the government is still slightly human compared to prices on several auction sites, most of which are only Rp20 per word.

standards set by the government are also far from the standard of the Mongabay Indonesia environmental site. They appreciate one word $0,055, with a minimum of 500 words per article. Which means that one article on Mongabay is paid a minimum of $27,33. You can imagine if the number of words is 1,000 to 5,000 words. The pay will be even greater.

Back to the topic of standardization of writing on the blog. I have several acquaintances who work at digital agencies. They once said that one article made in online media will be determined by several factors. Among the traffic, pageviews and impressions.

He did not mention the standard drinking standards for one article. However, let's say it refers to government policy. Then the value will be added if the tarffic, pageviews and media impressions are promising.

Not to mention the consideration of the amount of distribution on social media. Because this cannot be separated from online media business. The price can be very high. Coupled with taxes because usually online media have obligations to do so.

I have an acquaintance who works at one of the local online media that claims to have received a paid post offer. Even though the traffic was still thousands per day at that time. The price is $36,44 with one DoFollow link in it. That was in 2015. After considering inflation, it should be higher now.

Then with a blog ?. I think it should not be much different. Moreover, blogs have added value, sometimes the niche or topic is specific so that the distribution will go directly to people in need. Or readers whose purpose is to find information.

But again, there are no regulations governing it. Either the country has not considered bloggers worthy of being a profession, or because we have not yet valued copyright. Talking about copyright will actually add to the long list of each work that should be more worthy of payment.

At each moment commemorating National Blogger Day I also have never heard a specific topic discussing the standard price of paid posts and copyright issues. I don't know because I haven't heard because I have never been invited and involved in the celebration, or I am the one who has a mockery. I have no idea.

Actually, the consideration of determining the price of an article on a blog must also be seen from the process. Is the buyer who made the article or everything is done by the blog owner. Because if done by the blog owner will take up time. This also determines the price of the day.

What is unfortunate also, in Indonesia there are indeed many bloggers. But not all understand how to develop a blog properly. Even filling in the content in his blog more often copy and paste other people's writings. The real thing is that it ruins the market price.

It can't be directly professional, but at least don't take other people's writings so the blog is always called an update. Advertisers and even then not a fool who only sees the number of posts. But whether the blog owner is worth paying or not.

I personally actually built this blog not for commercial purposes, but also did not reject it. But I firmly reject advertisers who want to promote products that damage morale, such as online gambling and content that smells of sex and violence.

Although this blog is simple, I still try to build it professionally. Even with the advertiser's business, I try to communicate with appropriate language. They also sometimes ask for invoices which of course I also provide.

It's nice to have your own blog, so we are free to set prices. I do not hesitate to do that because I believe, my work is not a cheap work. Although this blog is simple, at least it has self-respect. You can do that too. Maybe it's also good to think together about the standardization of the price of paid post writing on blogs. Or about copyright that is always just underestimated. He thinks writing is not copyright.

There are still many things I want to say in this paper, but the number of words in this paper has reached 1000. So I chose to end it. I should be paid a humane price. Say using government standards. So I get paid $0,024 multiplied by 1,000 words, $24,05. Not bad for fun.
