The word Bad Sector may not sound familiar to some people who are connected to the computer everyday. What is Bad Sector? Bad Sector is a sign that states that there are certain parts of the hardware that are damaged so they cannot be used anymore.
Bad Sector on Harddisk often haunts everyday people who are closely related to computers, but Bad Sector is a very common thing on computers.
What Causes Bad Sector?
What often happens is the connection is lost during File Transfer, or also because it is caused by a sudden shock on the hard disk that causes the Haddisk disk to get a scratch. But besides those two, there are several other factors that cause Bad Sector including:
- Unstable Electric Power, for example, Going Up abruptly when haddisk did its work.
- Shutdown incorrectly is also one of the causes of Bad Sector.
- Poor Product Quality.
- Hardware supporters that are too old, for example, a processor fan that is not functioning properly or a hard drive that is too hot.
- Malware.
The cause of Bad Sector in general is the weakening of the magnetic disk disk which causes mechanical errors. The arrangement of files on the hard disk that is irregular makes the Head unable to read the File Sequence needed by the Software, causing the head to be able to swipe the hard disk plater and cause Badsector.
How to fix Bad Sector?
In the Windows Operating System there are features / tools built in from Windows called "Chkdsk" whose function is to look for Errors on the Harddisk disk after which Logical Errors will be corrected. Besides, this Chkdsk can detect and mark Bad Sectors, so the Windows Operating System no longer uses it.
To enter into the Tools itself is very easy, you only need to:
- Enter My Computer, after that you right-click the hard disk partition whichever you want to check for example C, D, or E.
- After that a menu will appear, Please select Properties.
- Next will appear Properties dialog box, Above there is a Menu you can choose Tools to enter into Chkdsk Tools.
- There you will see the words "Check," next to which is the shield logo.
- Click Check.
Advanced if Bad Sector is found, you can fix it in the above way but you have to choose the "Repair" option. In addition you can also display Fisk Defragmenter through the "Optimize and defragment drive" menu. This aims to rearrange files that are on the hard disk to be organized.
